Inception recently hosted its Annual Physician Summit in Austin, Texas, bringing together 45 physicians alongside 55 executives and leaders from across the U.S. and Canada. Over the course of two days, attendees engaged in insightful discussions, debates, and sponsor presentations aimed at shaping the future of IVF. While the daytime sessions focused on education and innovation, the evenings offered opportunities to connect and celebrate, including the Patient Experience Gala, an awards dinner recognizing outstanding employees, and the announcement of Indiana Fertility Institute as Practice of the Year. The event wrapped up with a lively 80s-themed party, adding a fun and nostalgic touch to the Physician Summit.

Legal Updates - IVF Policy Landscape
Inception remains deeply committed to public policy advocacy at both the state and federal levels, collaborating with its own team of advocates and key industry groups. To provide physicians with a deeper understanding of the current political landscape, Matthew Maruca, Inception’s Chief Legal Officer, led a comprehensive two-hour session. His presentation covered Inception’s public policy efforts, guidance on addressing patient questions regarding current and proposed legislation, and insights into proposals from anti-IVF thought leaders.

Inception’s Donor Business Continues Aggressive Expansion
Members from Inception’s Third Party Reproductive Services Committee provided an in-depth presentation on the progress and challenges of egg donor acquisition. Daragh Castenda, Vice President, Third Party Reproductive Services explained the egg donor applicant flow and reasons why applicants are rejected or flagged. Donor applicant age and BMI were by far the most common reasons for exclusion. She noted that while there is no shortage of initial donor applications, due to the rigorous standards, less than 1% advance to egg retrieval.
Inception and MyEggBank continue to expand their production center footprint across the United States. Castenda noted that the launch of donor programs has been completed across all Prelude Network clinics. Deb Mecerod, Director of MyEggBank added 12 new production centers since the beginning of 2024. This combined powerhouse of egg donor production centers augments the internal resources that Prelude clinics can offer their patients who need the support of third-party services to conceive. MyEggBank, founded in 2010, remains the largest and most diverse egg donor network in the US.

Physician Panel Debates and Discussions
A debate panel provided an opportunity for physicians to discuss their opinions about “Should Women Under 30 Freeze their Eggs”, revealing a consensus of support. Physicians from both large urban centers to rapidly evolving cites shared insights, highlighting both research-backed efficacy and compelling patient experiences. The discussion revealed that while the medical community largely accepts the procedure, the reasons for pursuing egg freezing are wide ranging, including career goals, delayed family planning, medical needs, and secondary infertility, emphasizing the procedure's role in empowering women and reducing anxiety.
The second physician panel discussion was on the topic of “Network Genetic Testing and Emerging PGT Options.” The physicians debated a variety of issues including the type of guidance that they provide based on genetic test results, medical ethics and potential liabilities. Additionally, Lauri Black, Director of Genetic Services, introduced the Non-euploid Embryo Transfer (NEET) Registry, a new Inception Research Institute study that follows non-euploid transfer outcomes from prenatal records through age five.
